Quarantalk: A journey towards healing amid the pandemic

It has been 2 weeks since we launched the casual yet informative online show, Quarantalk. And I find myself gradually feeling better as I adjust in this quarantined life.

3 Sundays ago, a little past midnight, my friend Jules Guiang and I spent over an hour on the phone brainstorming of ways we can forward our SDG advocacy amid the pandemic, and how we can respond to the crisis and be of help to others. A few days later, at 3:30am, I got a message. “Eah, podcast tayo.” (Eah, let’s do a podcast.) I didn’t need more convincing. A teaser was out in less than 24 hours. The concept, spiels, and flow of the show had been solidified all within 48 hours. We went live Sunday of that week.

We’re now about to head on to another week of quarantine. Challenges persist, anxieties build up. We’ll all just do our best to cope and adapt to our current circumstances. And here we are, putting together episodes to keep people company in these trying times, in the hours when falling asleep becomes more challenging as anxiety and worries usually creep in.

Through these conversations, we hope to engage more people in discussions about people’s concerns during the quarantine brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than that, we also aim to make people think, be critical, and be informed, to better adapt to our changing times. We talk about latest news of the day, trending topics, things that make us wonder, and initiatives in response to the pandemic among others.

I look forward to every evening we do the show, and I am grateful for everyone who spend time with us. This is something I’ve always enjoyed doing– creating platforms for people’s stories and voices, spaces where we converge to explore ideas, solutions, and sources of inspiration. In a way, producing this show has become a key part of my healing amid the pandemic.
